"It was such a privilege to be able to connect with this incredible landscape in such a unique way. I feel very lucky to have participated in this fantastic event.

Fjord Extreme Triathlon 2016 turned out extreme in all the true meanings of the word. The sun was shining from clear blue skies on friday, but on the day of the race, 13th August, rain was pouring down like never seen before. But after all, this triathlon IS extreme.
"Despite the weather it was an epic event!"
Winner, FjordXtreme 2016
Due to low water temperatures in the crystal clear lake Eikesdalsvatnet, the swim was shortened from 3.8 to 2.2 km. British triathlete David Fraser was first out of the water with Fredrik Olsson and Sean McFarlane in close pursuit.
The 181 km bike stage passed by a number of scenic locations though athletes struggled to see much in the rainy conditions. Sveinung Aas captured the lead into T2 after a very good performance on the bike, followed by David Fraser and Fredrik Olsson.
The 43 km run course up to the mountain finish at Madsvarden (1050 m.a.s) held up well in spite of the rain and David Fraser was the first to cross the finish line in the inaugural FXTRI. Fredrik Olsson and Sean McFarlane came in on the next two places, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. No athletes were allowed to continue up to the Mount Skjorta (1711 m.a.s.) this year due to the adverse weather conditions, so there is glory to be claimed in the 2017 race.
We are looking forward to an other epic race in 2017. Register to join!
